Givi Kit for AST Luggage Racks March 18, 2013
Reviewer: William Ludtke from Winter Park, FL United States
The Kit installed fairly easily for someone like me with a drill press, a  tap and die set and experience with metal fabrication. The one flaw I found with the finished installation is that the screws holding the lock block are easily accessible and could be removed, by anyone with a Phillips screw driver, allowing the bag to be stolen in about 30 seconds or less. I fixed this situation by fabricating  a piece of
1/2"Hx3/4"Wx2-3/4"L rectangle aluminum bar stock with 2 blind holes drilled in the top side large enough to cover the screw heads and a threaded blind hole at each  end. I then drilled and countersunk holes in the rack plate  for flat head machine screws to be installed at either end of the lock block from the top down securing the bar stock to the bottom of the rack plate so the only way to access the lock block mounting screws is to remove the bag and the countersunk machine screws, allowing the aluminum block to be removed exposing the lock block mounting screws.
